Georgia Bonora

The youngest of five siblings, Georgia started gymnastics at the age of three following her sisters into the sport, and at age seven entered the high performance program.

Georgia made her international debut in 2003. Immensely improving in 2006, she cemented her place in the 2006 World Championships team, contributing to Australias sixth place finish. In 2006 she jammed her ankle and bruised the bone, requiring her to wear an ankle boot for two months and forcing her to stop training.

At the 2007 Australian Championships, struggling with the passing of her beloved grandmother, she only managed a seventh place in the individual all-around and was selected as a reserve for the 2007 world titles. At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Georgia placed the highest amongst the Australian girls, finishing 13th in the all-around final, and assisting the team to achieve its best ever Olympics result, finishing sixth in the team competition.

After the Olympics, Georgia underwent surgery on both of her ankles to remove ankle spurs. At the 2009 World Championships in London, Georgia finished 36th in the all-around competition. In 2010, Georgia was crowned Australian all-around champion for the first time, and also collected gold medals on uneven bars and floor.

After being out of compeition for 2 years, Georgia was a suprise addition to the 2012 Olympic Team who competed in London. Georgia now coaches at her long time club, Waverley Gymnastics Centre as well as studying at University.
