Prashanth Sellathurai

Sellathurai is arguably the most decorated member of the current Australian Men's team.

A Pommel Horse specialist by trade, Prashanth burst onto the scene with a silver medal at the 2006 World Championships and followed it up with a string of dominant performances around the globe including a bronze medal at the 2009 and 2010 World Championships

He was a valuable member of the history making Men’s gold medal team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and also won the gold medal on Pommel, took the bronze on Parallel Bars and qualified for the Rings final finishing in sixth place. Prashanth was also the 2011 FIG World Cup Series Champion on the Pommel Horse.

Prashanth is a member of the NSWIS Gymnastics program and Gymnastics NSW Men’s High Performance program at Homebush and is coached by Songliang Xiong. He started Gymnastics as a child initially to expend some of his excess energy and was soon identified as possessing a special talent.

Sellathurai was unable to compete in 2014 due to an ongoing shoulder problem which required surgery, but encouragingly returned to the podium in April 2015 for the British Championships.

Prashanth is currently training over in Great Britian and has recently competed in the 2017 Gymnastics British Championships.

Look out for his unique skill on pommel horse...3 russians in between the pommels!
