Overview

GA Wellbeing Mission Statement:
“To support our gymnastics community in developing and promoting a holistic culture, including the requirements of elite sport, physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and activities outside of training.”

In 2019, the landscape of athlete wellbeing within Gymnastics in Australia was reviewed in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). As a result of this review, a framework was established by the AIS, with suggested focus areas and actions to be developed within the sport of Gymnastics. This includes education and development of resources to support the health and wellbeing of the athletes, inside the gym and life outside the gym.

The Executive Summary from this framework can be viewed via the link below:

Support Team

Gymnastics Australia recognises the importance of the support network around the gymnast and how influential they can be. GA also acknowledges that this can be a challenging role and position for the people within the athletes network, with so much commitment and investment made and all the ups and downs also experienced by these key people.

The below resources will assist with understanding the role of the support person and some tips on how to manage the relationship between the athlete and support team.
