Gymnastics Australia Coach Education Framework Changes

Relevant to: ALL coach Technical Members plus club administrators and managers. This article explains recent changes to the Coach Education Framework and the reasons for the change. 

What has changed?

• Gymnastics Australia’s High Performance coaches have been consolidated into one category within the Coach Education Framework – High Performance Gold has been removed.
• The honorary title of Master coach no longer sits within the Coach Education Framework

Why have there been changes?

In the framework to date an accreditation could be gained:
• through training
• a combination of training and recognition of performance outcomes at benchmark competitions (High Performance Gold)
• recognition of performance outcomes at benchmark competitions (Master). 

It is the performance outcome component, even with established criteria which has been very challenging to administer across Gymsports with consistency. 

The Coach Education Framework will only reflect the accreditation gained through training. This means the High Performance (Gold) and Master will not be reflected within the Education Framework at this point in time. This change is not in any way intended to de-value the outstanding achievements of high performance coaches. 

What does the new Framework look like?

The Coach Education Framework is now a 5-level framework as shown in the image. The high performance accreditation is gained by successfully completing the FIG Level 3 Academy Program. 
 

How are coaches recognised for performance outcomes at competition?

Gymnastics Australia will continue to develop ideas and thinking around criteria and the best ways to recognise the wonderful achievements of our high performance coaches appropriate to all Gymsports.
